Apologies to non-UK subscribers.
Currently in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, our
Biochemistry lab offers a ‘routine’ service 9-5 pm Monday to
Friday and Saturday 9am to 12pm. On-call BMS staff do an out-
of-hours on-call rota for urgent / emergency hospital
samples. Recently we have had ‘routine’ samples sent to our
out-of-hours service from ‘waiting-time / list initiative’
clinics, held in the hospital’s out-patient clinic (which no-
one told us about of course).
My question is – has anyone in the UK had any success in
negotiating additional resources for the lab as part of these
waiting-time initiative clinics?
Thanks for your help.
