Myeloma proteins precipitating in the blank reading and redissolving in the color reaction could explain a falsely low result. I've seen this in Total Protein methods, perhaps it could happen in the BCG Albumin. Was the Total Protein high?

Subject: Low albumin with BCG method on a renal failure patient
A 74-year old lady with renal failure, her serum albumin with BCP method was
18 g/L while with BCG method was 4 g/L (repeated twice) (same sample).
Normally we use BCG method to measure albumin for patinets with renal
failure or on dialysis as this is supposed to give a more accurate
determination than BCP (which usually underestimate albumin in renal failure
patinets).
Any comments are welcome.
