Going back more years than I care to remember, one of our post-natal wards had a "standard" yellow wall that they claimed to use to screen babies for jaundice. If the baby was more yellow than the wall, the the baby was bled, if not, the baby was spared the pain of a heel-prick (usually from me!)
It must be true, I married the midwife who told me.
