Thanks for the clarification, Ken. i didn't think you were accusing me but I read much into
your text when you mentioned 'hegemony', so i thought it is important to state my position
loud. (i am a guest in europe. i need to renew my visa in a month). and to me, you did say
something about the list by claiming that 'some of the notes on this list are definitely
Eurocentric'. thus my response.
mind you, being eurocentric or not depends on the observer, (right Klaus?). i know Keith
talked about 'de-center', but how can anyone, really? i prefer to recognize that everyone is
self-centered (in the best sense of the word). once one accepts that, then it is easier to
deal with others self-centerness. and this is, i think, as close to 'de-center' as we can
get. and perhaps this acceptance can help ease up the deadlocks in our month-long debates on
the list. (although i doubt it because of our self-centerness).
cheers. enjoying germany and its culture - rosan
p.s. just another clip: in the chinese tradition, human is not in the center. but rather we
are the last in the hierarchy of three: sky (universe), ground (earth) and human.
