hi,
I am partly wondering out loud on this one, as it an aside to my current
research, but is there much research in the area of literature as a
design process, and literature making as a type of designing. Can
anyone point out theorists, designer practitioners or indeed writers as
practitioners who may have tackled this area? I am specifically
interested in any attempts to merge literary theory and criticism with a
designerly description of the processes at work in writing text and
literature. A quick google finds some cursory mentions to the literary
design of the gospels, but not too much else that stands out. I have
yet to give the notion much more research. This being the list that it
is, though, I thought some may have investigated this area as a tool for
deconstructing the literary thesis as a design artefact and hence
opening it up to broader interpretation and utilisation in other
artefact design areas. I imagine many designers wrestle with similar
notions in the writing of their theses, but I have not encountered,
albeit after superficial research, any explicit and dedicated attempts
to portray literature as a design activity.
