Dear All,
Why BA or BSc at all when we have BDes? Design is big enough now to have
its own Bachelors and Masters and Doctorates of Design.
But, can designers really affect change? Real change is in the hands of
those with power surely?! Designers don't have that power. Do they?
BA in politics, philosophy or economics might be better if you want to
get involved in "real change".

Hi Glenn
i think it will more likely be a BSc Change. (smile)...as the trend
goes...as design is being appropriated...but we will have nobody but us
(people from the art and design tradition) to be held accountable if
that is going to happen one day.
sorry if this sounds like another inconfident parochial speech, but we
must look at our own tradition to identify what is good, what is not so
good, what is terrible; what must be discarded and replaced, what is
worthy to maintain and must maintain...no matter what others want us to
believe otherwise...this is not easy in the university environment. but
we must try.
all the best. rosan
