We are delighted to unveil the 2006 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral
Research Awards. Prizes of 1500 Euros (or other currency equivalent) will be
available in twelve of the Emerald subject areas. If you (or anyone you
know) will have successfully completed a doctoral award between 1 June 2004
and 1 March 2006 (the closing date for applications) then check out the full
entry requirements at http://www.emeraldinsight.com/awards/2006.htm The
winners will also see their work feature in the Emerald Research Register,
the sponsoring Emerald journal and via the EFMD website.
For more established researchers, we are delighted to unveil six new journal
launches for 2006. Go to
http://www.emeraldinsight.com/literaticlub/whatsnew/newlaunches.htm to find
out more about the Baltic Journal of Management, International Journal of
Emerging Markets, Journal of Modelling in Management, Journal of Technology
Management in China, Qualitative Research in Organizations and Management,
and Society and Business Review.
The conference season is well underway and, hopefully, many of you will have
seen Emerald representatives at events already. As you'd expect of a
management publisher, Emerald is heavily involved in the Academy of
Management meeting in Honolulu. A number of journals are sponsoring 'best
paper' awards; there will also be a professional development workshop
('Becoming a journal editor') and a buffet and informal workshop organized
By Management Decision. Full details of where to find us are at
http://www.emeraldinsight.com/literaticlub/whatsnew/aom2005.htm
A regular feature in the Newsline will be advice on increasing the
readership and citation of your own work. The first tells how a carefully
constructed title will make your article stand out on the search results
page to ensure it gets chosen by other researchers.

Look out for future announcements on a new online service aimed at
contributors to the Emerald engineering titles. This will provide easy
access to quality engineering theory and best practice via research papers,
case studies, guru interviews, book reviews and much more. The site will be
divided into four distinct engineering disciplines, known as communities:
'Advanced Automation', 'Materials Science and Engineering', 'Mathematical
Engineering', and, 'Electronics Manufacture and Packaging', each one
representing an area where Emerald has a strong presence. The service will
be available to all interested individuals who register.
Best regards,
Chris Perry
