Postgraduate Studentships at Queen's University, Belfast
Two postgraduate studentships are available for study leading to the
award of a PhD in the History of Science. The successful candidates
will be expected to work under the supervision of Prof. Peter J. Bowler
and contribute to his current project on the popularization of science
in early twentieth century Britain. It is anticipated that the main
areas of study will be the coverage of science in the national
newspapers and the promotion of science in museums and exhibitions.
Applicants should have or expect to have a Masters degree (or a high
first class honours degree), preferably in the history of science,
although equivalent qualifications in related areas such as cultural
history will also be considered.
