Hi,
I'm writing about political depictions of film noir and I'm looking
for an article I remember reading but can't find right now. The essay
argues that film (or at least hollywood film) is an inherently
conservative medium because the way it necessarily focuses on a single
protagonist leaves out considerations of groups or class
backgrounds--American individualism, etc. (I think the original was
more persuasive than this one-sentence summary.) I recall it being in
the Wilson Quarterly but having searched their site, I can't find it.
If anyone knows, please backchannel at kenneth.chen[at]yale.edu.
Thanks,
Ken
