medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear all,
I have rather ambivalent feeling about George's posting (not that he posted
it, but for the actual news in it). On one hand, it is good to have a
capolavoro out from private collection to be admired by all the willing
souls. On the other hand, Duccio just does not belong to New York city. Its
rightful place would be somewhere in Italy. Then again, there is no lack of
works of art in Tuscany....Anyway, money talks.
All the best,
Jussi Hanska
P.S. Just to make things absolutely clear, I wouldn't want to have it Finland
either. That would be equally out of place.
