Hi,
I'm currently doing a masters in Library and Information Studies, and am
doing a project on the design and layout of children's libraries/areas, and
what considerations should be taken into account for children with
disabilities. I would be really interested to hear of anyone who has
recently designed/built a children's area, and anything that they
particularly emphasised/avoided, or any comments.
We're mainly focusing on chidren with mobility problems (eg. width between
shelves, height of shelves) and children with visual impairment (eg. is
there children's large print stock, and is it kept in the children's area
or with the adult large print stock?)
We're looking at school libraries as well as public libraries. I'd find
comments on personal experience particularly useful, but any useful
information would be much appreciated!
Many thanks,
Josie Crimp
