This workshop is designed to give participants a broad overview of the wide range of areas of the law that are likely to be encountered by library and information staff, or that are likely to have a significant impact on their work.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
The day will raise participants' awareness of the legal risks they may encounter and give them an understanding of how to minimise those risks.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* an introduction to key legal terms, concepts and processes
* considered some of the key ethical and policy issues for information professionals
* an idea of the legal hazards associated with their information work and strategies for minimising legal risk

WORKSHOP LEADER: PAUL PEDLEY
Paul is Head of Research at the Economist Intelligence Unit. He is a member of the Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance and on the Steering Group of the JISC Legal Information Service. Paul has written five books, including "Essential law for information professionals" by Facet Publishing. He has also edited "Managing Digital Rights" which is also published by Facet Publishing.
