A graduate student position is open (starting Fall 2005) at the Univ. of
New Mexico to work on an interdisciplinary project on the Tertiary
exhumation, landscape evolution, and uplift history of the Colorado
Plateau. Both MS and PhD students are encouraged to apply.
The student will work at Univ. of New Mexico under the supervision of
Mousumi Roy, but will interact closely with the other project scientists
(whose expertise lie in geomorphology and thermochronology). The primary
goal will be to develop a quantitative model that integrates spatial and
temporal patterns of rock exhumation (and other geologic and geophysical
observations) with possible rock uplift, surface uplift, and erosion
scenarios.
The graduate application deadline for Univ. of New Mexico for students
applying for financial support is Jan 31, 2005 (forms are online at
www.unm.edu). Interested students should feel free to contact Mousumi Roy
([log in to unmask]) to learn more about the details of this project. Additional
inquiries on the Department of Earth and Planetary sciences at UNM may be
