medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

> I downloaded the Avast anti-virus for free, and it scans all my emails,
gifs, jpg's and I have had no problems whatsoever. The Avast even announces
if an email has a possible virus and you have options to do something about
it.
AV software is definitely worth having, but keep in mind that it is only as
good as its database of the code "strings" found in the viruses is --that's
how the program works, by scanning for those known strings within the suspect
file.
keeping such a db up-to-date is the key to the problem, and, with dozens
(scores? hundreds?) of new virii comming out every day, just relying on your
AV alone to keep you safe is a bit like playing russian roullette.
