Received this morning; some (older?) Lis-maps subscribers will know of
Barbara Farrell's 'Guide' mentioned in the message, perhaps remember her
personally also.

Subject: Barbara Farrell
To those who have known Barbara over the years, I bring the sad news of her
death last Friday after a lengthy illness.
She will be remembered with great affection by her many friends and
colleagues.
Barbara was the founding Map Librarian at Carleton who served her collection
and clients with passion and commitment.
Her service to the map community was exemplary, especially through ACMLA.
The book Barbara co-wrote with Aileen Debarats, Guide for a small map
collection, remains a classic for those coming to grips with this
wonderfully complex publishing arena.
Barbara lived and breathed her love of maps and map-making, which tied
closely to her artistic flair for painting and photography, fields she was
actively engaged in since her retirement in 1996.
Arrangements for a memorial service are not yet finalized and further
information will be posted as available.
