Call for papers
Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference
July 13-16 2005
Centre d'Etudes Superieures de la Renaissance
Tours (France)
The 2005 annual Med-Ren Music Conference takes place in Tours (France) from
July 13 to 16. Proposals for papers, poster sessions, panel discussions
and performance presentations relating to all aspects of medieval and
Renaissance music are welcome. We shall prioritize presentations of research
findings judged to be new and significant, whatever their theme. We are also
keen to encourage submissions with an international or inter-disciplinary
dimension, and from younger participants.
Proposals for individual papers should take the form of a 250-word abstract
indicating the specific research findings to be presented and their
significance, the duration of the presentation (maximum 20 minutes, shorter
presentations welcome), and equipment required. Proposals for whole sessions
should include abstracts for constituent papers (max 20 minutes) and
rationale for the session as a whole. Organisers of panel sessions should
indicate the issue to be aired and why it is of current interest, list names
of participants, and indicate duration (maximum 90 minutes). Proposals for
performance sessions (duration 20 to 60 minutes) should give similar
information and list musical items. Proposals for papers or for notes and
queries we can pre-publish on the web for discussion at the conference will
also be welcome.
Submissions should be sent as email text (please do not send attachments) to
Philippe Vendrix at the address below to arrive as soon as possible and no
later than 28 February 2005. The programme will be announced by 31 March.
Please note that we hope to avoid, as far as possible, the scheduling of
parallel sessions at the conference. This inevitably means limiting the
number of traditional 20-minute presentations we can accept. However, we'll
endeavour to be flexible about this.
