Norman,

By the way, if Arnold asks about whether I am doing anything to support
STC in AST, the answer is yes, but it is turning out to be more work than
expected. There have been many distractions since I said I would do this
over a year ago at Cambridge (UK) - not least of which was the protracted
discussion of Quantity - so I have not been able to put as much time into
it as I would have liked. The other problem has been that my original
assumption of a more or less one-to-one mapping between AST concepts and
STC concepts turned out to be wrong. I had hoped that this assumption
would mean I could do just the easy bits (from ASTs point of view) of STC
and leave the rest until later. As it turned, there are several places
where this one-to-one mapping assumption falls over, resulting in me
having to implement a lot more new stuff in AST than I had anticipated.
For instance, this means I have had to implement a new Region class
within AST to represent regions within a coordinate Frame.
Still I *am* geting there. And of course STC will need TimeFrame... What
would be interesting is to know if he has any other software which allows
the interpretation of STC documents, and if so what it can do.
