It may be possible to do 3 axes with simple tick marks, but I'm not sure
how to represent curvy gridlines in 3D.
What *may* be possible is to draw (x,y,z) axes as 3 pairs of 2D axes
(x,y), (y,z), (z,x). This would result in the grid lines being drawn on
the 3 "faces" spanned by these axis pairs, but there would be no
representation of the gridlines within the 3D volume itself.
Having said it would be possible, it would be a sizable effort to
integrate AST into OpenDX - off the top of my head I would guess of the
order of a month or two. First thing would be for me to try to remember
something about the internals of DX which are rather baroque...
