Perhaps I should mention (apropos of nothing in particular) that
"transubstantiation" is conventionally spelt with one 's' - it is
"transsexual" that conventionally has two. The Church of England doesn't
have too much trouble with the latter concept. A couple of years ago the
Bishop of Winchester was delegated to investigate the tricky problem of
transsexual priests. He was happy to report back to the House of Bishops
that "If a man becomes a woman, or a woman becomes a man, if are priests
they remain priests - willy nilly". He was puzzled that his fellow bishops
fell about laughing...
