Interesting... However, why do we feel a need to explain this text as
'acceptably orthodox'? What is wrong with just saying, "I wonder what this
means." and leave it? Even fundamentalists recognize that some passages of the
Bible are difficult to understand. Trying to explain every difficult passage
implies a human superiority over scripture. This is both unorthodox and
unscholarly.
