There are two volumes which evaluate and develop the insights of Peter Brown's article on the "Holy Man" in _Journal of Roman Studies_ (1971) :
_Charisma and Society: The 25th Anniversary of Peter Brown’s Analysis of the Late Antique Holy Man, Conference Held at the University of California at Berkeley, March 13-16, 1997_. Edited by Susanna Elm and Naomi Janowitz. (Published in Journal of Early Christian Studies, 6 (1998): 343-539)
_The Cult of the Saints in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages: Essays on the Contribution of Peter Brown_. Edited by James Howard-Johnston and Paul Antony Hayward. (New York: Oxford University Press. 1999. Pp. x, 298. $74.00.)
These are jointly reviewed in _The Catholic Historical Review_, 86 (2000): 640-44.

Subject: [M-R] RE: peter brown´s scholarship
Greetings, learned ones! My library has finally managed to acquire the volume by Howard-Johnston, James and Paul Antony Hayward, “The Cult of Saints in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages: Essays on the Contribution of Peter Brown” (Oxford: 1999), but it seems to me that there has been at least one other volume assessing the master's
work. I don´t mean just a festschrift, but a volume which evaluates his contribution to the field. Am I imagining
this, or can anyone provide me with bibliography?
thanks in advance,
Meg
