This particular practice is very common in Italy, where crutches, though
now less often displayed in any number, have long been a frequent form of
ex voto. Finding sanctuary and museum websites with illustrations of their
votive tablets is easy. Not so with these more mundane objects, though
there seem to be various prosthetics here:
