St Joseph's connection with acquiring property derives, not from his
carpentry skills, but from his care in providing a roof over the head
of the Holy Family - the stable in Bethlehem, temporary accommodation
in Egypt, the house in Nazareth. The reasoning is, if he can do it for
Mary and Jesus, why not for us? As to his powers in selling property,
that does look a bit like getting hold of the wrong end of the stick, a
phenomenon not unknown among the faithful.
Bill.
