Genders and Sexualities
CALL FOR PAPERS
We invite proposals for 20-minute papers on any aspect of genders and/or sexualities in medieval culture. We welcome proposals (of approximately 300 words) which demonstrate a critical engagement with current gender debates in medieval studies.
We plan to put together a programme which covers a wide range of subject matter, including:
· Texts of all kinds: literary, documentary, historical, theological, pedagogical, etc.
· Material culture
· Visual representations
· Music
And a wide spectrum of approaches, which might include:
· Queer theory
· Feminist theory
· Gender theory
· Performativity.
Keynote speaker: Professor Jacqueline Murray, University of Guelph
To submit a proposal for a paper, please e-mail it (either in the body of a message or as a Word attachment) to: [log in to unmask] by 27 August 2004.
We also intend to organise one round-table discussion of one or two recent critical works. We invite you to send us your preference for these, in response to the suggestions on our website (www.medievalgender.org.uk).
