medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
_Pace_ Maddy Gray, many of _these_ howlers (as opposed perhaps to ones she has experienced in her teaching) are apparent typos or slips of the pen (e.g., "loins" for "lions") or other little slips of a more or less mechanical nature (e.g., the substitution of homophones seen in "bear" for "bare"). Whereas these indicate hasty composition and failure (probably under the pressure of time) to revise and correct, they are on the whole no more likely to represent actual misunderstandings than are the analogous slips committed by some of the learned when they (also in haste) post to lists such as this one.
Best,
John Dillon
