Of course, Dennis probably meant that Justin anticipates Clement of
Alexandria,
since Clement of Rome is a generation prior to Justin, and only
moderately
interested in classical Greek traditions (is the Phoenix legend
classical
Greek?). I doubt that Clement of Alexandria, for all his travels, ever
reached
Rome!
