medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Thanks to Paul Schaffner, Terrill Heaps, Sherry Reames, and
others who answered my query. On rereading, I see that I placed
too much emphasis on "catholycke" rather than the word in any
spelling as put in the mouth of pre-Reformation king on a 1485
battlefield. Anyway, the consensus seems to be that it's not
evidence of when Hall wrote this part of his chronicle.
BTW I finished the transcription stage early this morning:
700,000 words of pretty good early modern English, in original
spelling. I will in time be making the text useful for various
scholarly pursuits. If anyone has some immediate need for an
extract from this 1399-1547 chronicle, please contact me
offlist.
Cheers,
Al Magary
