It has been interesting to read the discussion regarding the origin of the
Silverpit structure. I have a paper under review with the Journal of the
Geological Society that deals with deformation of the post-salt cover in
the region of the Silverpit structure. It demonstrates that gravitational
collapse, as previously documented in Malcolm Jenyon's studies, is the key
to explaining Silverpit and that concentric faulting both around isolated
salt highs and lows is common.
