medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Members
I am trying to prepare a paper on the Black Book of Christ Church, a
fourteenth century manuscript from the Cathedral priory of Augustinian
Canons at Holy Trinity, Dublin (Christ Church Cathedral). While the codex
itself has been the subject of much study there is very little written that
would help contextualise it. I would therefore be most grateful for any
advice on the educational structures, libraries, book production, academic
achievements or university presence of medieval Augustinian Canons (of
whatever congregation).
I am aware of the 1998 volume on the Canons' libraries published by the
British library and of an article published by David Postles of this list in
the Nottingham medieval studies c. 1985.
Sincerely
Colmán Ó Clabaigh OSB
