I don't know the answer, but surely Pitcairn must be a challenger? And what about the Southern Ocean Islands, like South Georgia, Bouvetoy, Kerguelen, Macquarie and Heard Islands?
To me Tristan doesn't look like a good bet!

Dear Colleagues
Can anyone help with a little conundrum?
My enquirer has asked which is the remotest island in the World? My enquirer
hasn't stipulated inhabited or uninhabited island but I would be very
pleased to get opinions on both. What he is looking for is confirmation
that Tristan da Cunha is definitely the answer. However in my searches so
far I have come across many islands that lay claim to the title too.
My enquirer has also been told that the Guinness Book of Records claims
Tristan as the holder of the title. Can anyone confirm that for me please
as unfortunately I don't have access to an up to date copy here.
Grateful for any help on this.
Thanks in advance
