of German cultural studies for one of the following posts
THE UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM
School of Humanities
Centre for European Languages and Cultures
Lectureships in Cultural Theory and in European Media (two posts)
The Centre for European Languages and Cultures comprises the
Departments of French Studies, German Studies, Hispanic Studies and
Italian Studies. These posts will deliver our new cross-disciplinary
undergraduate programmes in Culture, Society and Communication bringing
the disciplines of Cultural Studies to bear on the study of European
Society, culture and language (studying both Western Europe, and
Central and Eastern Europe), and contribute to modules in cultural
analysis and cultural practice in a European and trans-national
context. You will also carry out 5 or 5* level research in your
relevant/related discipline area and undertake administration.
Candidates will have a PhD (or near completion of one), teaching
expertise in either Cultural Theory or in European Media and research
and publication experience. In addition, you will have excellence in
one of French, German, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese and the related
area studies and culture. For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, in
addition to the above, you will already have a strong research record
and experience of motivating and leading academic colleagues.
Salary on range of £21,125 - £39,958 per annum.
