Paul,
Your email was forwarded to me....
Re a geographic resolver "where I can choose a UK town on a map and it
gives me latitude and longitude back."
I think we can help you. Can I suggest you talk to my colleague James Reid
here at EDINA. He is project manager for the geoXwalk project
(http://hds.essex.ac.uk/geo-X-walk/) which is building a UK gazetteer which
can be used as a place resolver. This is a JISC funded shared service
project and it is looking for JISC services that might use the gazetteer
server in the way you describe.
You can contact him at [log in to unmask] or on 0131 651 1383 (although he
off sick at the moment). Failing that contact me.
Regards
David
PS. If anyone else can see a use for our gazetteer server, please contact
either James or myself.
