The Centre for Educational Technology Interoperability Standards
(CETIS, http://www.cetis.ac.uk/) is a JISC funded organisation which
advises the UK FE/HE sector on the uptake and implementation of
learning technology interoperability standards and specifications. The
Educational Content SIG focuses on the various standards and
specifications that relate to the production, packaging, management and
delivery of interoperable educational resources including the IMS
Global Learning Consortium’s Content Packaging, Simple Sequencing and
Learning Design specifications and Advanced Distributed Learning’s
Shared Content Object Reference Model (SCORM).
You will be educated to degree level, or have equivalent experience,
and have in-depth knowledge of the use of communications and
information technology to support teaching and learning in UK
educational sectors. Some experience of instructional design and
current pedagogical theory is required, together with an awareness of
the strategic, pedagogic and technical implications of learning
technology standards and specifications. As a confident communicator
with excellent interpersonal skills, you will be self-motivated,
innovative, organised, and you will work efficiently as a member of
distributed team.
Familiarity with CETIS and the Centre’s remit and activities is
desirable, along with technical knowledge of learning technology
standards and specifications.
The Co-ordinators primary responsibilities include:
• Organising Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings, managing and
moderating SIG websites and discussion fora and supporting the SIG
Group community of practice.
• Tracking specification development through online fora, conference
calls and working meetings and contributing to the scoping of
specification requirements.
• Supporting JISC programmes.
• General administrative duties including management of SIG finances,
producing reports and liaising with other SIG Coordinators and the
CETIS management team.
Other activities include participating in conferences and workshops,
liaising with vendors and assisting with CETIS event planning.
The post is tenable until July 2006 in the first instance. Full and
part time secondments will be considered.
