medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I found a saint listed for the 29th of February! Actually, I found four,
but one is too modern for this list and most calendars list the other two
under 28. February, so I've already covered them.
Today (29. February) is the feast day of:
Antonia of Florence (d. 1472) (blessed) The Florentine Antonia was widowed
at a young age and became a Franciscan tertiary. As head of the convent at
Aquila she launched a serious reform, reintroducing the original rule of
the Poor Clares. She suffered a long, painful illness before her death and
won a reputation for patience and humility. Her cult was formally approved
in 1847.
