medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
If my memory serves me well the term 'ecclesia anglicana' or 'anglican
ecclesia' was used by one of the English representatives (I think it was
the then Archbishop of Canterbury) at the Council of Constance in the
'debate' on nations. I cannot recall at the moment if there are any earlier
precedents for the Latin version. The relevant texts can be found in Mansi:
Sacrorum Conciliorum nova et amplissima collectio.
