Myrrhine
We did some market research based on one library - Ealing Road - in 1994,
using Consultants PPCR, and Karen Tyerman and I wrote it up in LAR at that
time. It involved various focus groups and straw polls, and cost about 6k.
I could copy the report and snail mail to you if this helps

Please respond to
Myrrhine Crowe
Many thanks to all who responded to my message of 22nd January asking for
information on libraries that have set up customer focus groups.
Here is a summary of the responses.
Blackburn and Darwen - focus groups running successfully for all branches
and areas of service. Significant and visible improvements have been
recorded.
Brighton and Hove - existing Lesbian and Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
consultation group, short-term focus groups planned for all 14 community
libraries.
Corporation of London - thank you for forwarding your IFLA Section paper
with details of Friends of Libraries organisations. This is a useful
resource.
Poole - approx 1600 statistically representative Poole residents form the
Poole Opinion Panel, who give their views on different council services
through a questionnaire.
Thurrock - focus groups have been set up for most of Thurrock's libraries.
Many thanks again,
Myrrhine Crowe
