Alice,
All the NLS people will be at the opening reception for the Blaeu website.
So I'll stand in for them.
Not sure what the problem is. Go to <
http://www.nls.uk/digitallibrary/map/early/blaeu/index.html > and then click
on 'browse the atlas', which takes you to a further page with various
browsing options.
I spent quite a happy time today looking at the site and I have to say that
I consider it to be one of the best thought-out sites that I've come
across - and, in reviewing sites for the Articles and Images pages on 'Map
History' I have probably looked at many thousands. Images, text (translated
into English for the first time), alphabetical indexes (including a
place-name index that is a serious work of historical scholarship) and
graphic index, as well as and historical background notes
Incidentally, Chris Fleet was too modest to point out (as the index page
does not) that he was responsible for the section 'The history behind the
publication of the Atlas'.
So, as they say, enjoy!
Best wishes
Tony
