We have been doing modules for a *very* long time. (We were in the original
Cambridge modular pilot) We have a very simple policy - you get one go at
each module. Unless you have a doctor's note or similar that's it - all
other resits are paid for. We charge the standard exam board fee for the
module.
The only exception is General Studies. A student who is here for two years
is expected to progress to General Studies A2. If they make a total pig of
the first year, we allow them to retake the AS free of charge - the
reasoning being that we MAKE them do General Studies and the cost is still 6
modules.
We've been doing it this way since at least 1990. (When I started) So
everybody is used to it.
I keep asking management to add an administration fee but they feel it's
expensive enough as it is.
