Folks -- sorry for the longer than expected winter break.

In reviewing the prior discussion about charter and agenda, and some
administrative items tasked to me by DCMI, here are the general tasks I'd
like to accomplish swiftly
:

1. Amend charter to expand the WG's domain from the representation of dates
to include also the representation of time
2. Finalize our working agenda
3. Administrivia for the chair:
a. submit a brief report of the WG's activity,
b. update DCMI DC Date WG web site

I'm going to send items 1 and 2 in separate messages with distinct subject
lines.

The DC date charter item appears below

>1. Amend the charter. Below is what I purpose as revised text -- I've
taken the opportunity adding "time" to also restructure the text (specific
goal 1 and the general "purpose" statement seemed redundant) and substituted
"date and time" for "dates" as appropriate, and moved point 3 to a revised
work agenda (see "agenda" message that follows) as charter item 1 gives the
WG leave to discuss any issues related to date we wish.

Current charter:
"The purpose of the DC Date WG is to provide a forum for considering issues
related to the representation of dates in metadata.

The specific goals of the WG are:
1. Provide an outlet for the discussion of issues related to the
representation of dates in metadata
2. Foster the adoption of standards and practices that will enhance the
interoperability of date information conveyed in Dublin Core metadata
3. In consultation with other interested DCMI WG's:
- identify categories of commonly-recorded dates which cannot be
satisfactorily represented using ISO 8601 or other well-established
international standards governing the representation of dates
- investigate options to provide for the interoperable representation of
these types of dates."

Revised charter (proposed)

"The purpose of the DC Date WG is to
1. Provide a forum for the discussion of issues related to the
representation of date and time in metadata
2. Foster the adoption of standards and practices that will enhance the
interoperability of date and time information conveyed in Dublin Core
metadata"

**
How says the WG with respect to this revision of the charter?
