medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Not strictly Medieval Religion, I know, but the following query has us
baffled over on alt.language.latin. Can anyone help from a Medieval
perspective? We think he was a priest rather than deacon, but can't be
sure.
John Briggs
On the title page of one of his books (Chartularium ecclesiae Sancti Petri
de Burgo...), Ulysse Chevalier (1841-1923) is described as:
S. C. E. diaconus.
Could anyone tell me what S. C. E. stands for?
