Dear Ruby,
the relationship between OW and TL is given for saithe, cod, haddock and
plaice in the following article:
BOLLE, L.J., RIJNSDORP, A.D., VAN NEER, W., MILLNER, R.S., VAN LEEUWEN,
P.I., ERVYNCK, A., AYERS, R. & ONGENAE, E. 2004. Growth changes in
plaice, cod, haddock and saithe in the North Sea: a comparison of
(post-)medieval and present-day growth rates based on otolith
measurements. Journal of Sea Research 51: 313-328.
For cod, plaice and haddock more detailed data (equations separately for
quarters and regions in the North Sea) can be found in
VAN NEER, W., ERVYNCK, A., BOLLE, L.J., MILLNER, R.S. & RIJNSDORP, A.D.
2002. Fish otoliths and their relevance to archaeology: an analysis of
medieval, post-medieval and recent material of plaice, cod and haddock
from the North Sea. Environmental Archaeology 7: 65-81.
These publications result from a collaboration between Anton Ervynck, me
and researchers from fishery institutes in Belgium, The Netherlands and
the UK.
kind regards,
Wim
PS: I can send you a pdf-file of the paper published in Journal of Sea

Subject: [ZOOARCH] looking for otolith measurements
Dear All at Zooarch,
This is a FISH plead!. I require the OL & OW measurements plus the TL of
the
fish for:
Pagellus bogaraveo,
Pollachius virens and
Gadus morhua.
I will be most most grateful for any help from my FRWG colleagues. I
have tried
contacting, unsuccessfully, the e-mail list for the group but have lost
most
contacts since my e-mail changed at the university & address books
lost!.
My very best wishes to All and thanks for any help that may be provided.
Ruby
