The best example of a wiki used for collaboration I have seen is Wikipedia:

Hello All,
Mira's posting is extremely interesting & timely for us.
I don't recall having seen any previous mention of wiki on the list.
We are currently looking at the possible use of a tiki, associated with
wiki, for a staff development forum.
This would be allied to putting up draft content for collaborative editing,
as well as uploading externally available documents for reference purposes.
Do other members have any experience of using this kind of open domain
software in such ways & for similar purposes?

Subject: [VLES] wikalong - wiki sidebar on every page
Hello all,
Just discovered the Wikalong extension for Firefox (available from
<http://wikalong.phunnel.org/wiki/>). Turning this on gives a wiki margin
to every page - a sidebar editable by anyone with wikalong. Once you have
it, you can see that , for example,
<http://www.elearnspace.org/Articles/lms.htm> and
<http://www.elearnspace.org/> have embryonic wikalongs.
I'm intrigued to see who will use this and how. On the learning front I
immediately thought about no-hassle possibilities for groups at a distance
making notes next to texts - also a good way to collect comments, like it
or not. So I don't mind admitting I'm slightly unnerved about the prospect
of patrolling my own pages - which I would definitely be tempted to do if
they began to attract wikalongs (any activity at all would be a nice
surprise, actually).
Anyone used it? Any thoughts?
Mira
