Dear Colleagues,
I am doing research on the historical development of the door to door speed
of good transport. For example I am looking for data concerning the delivery
time development of letters and parcels from 1800 till today. And I am also
interested in other products like milk delivery and here I am also
interested in the concentration process in the diary industry. Another point
of interest is the development of "system" speeds over time - I found a
reference where they said that average speed of a freight train is below
20km/h. Are there studies available where I can find more information about
the historical development of "system" speeds of freight trains and other
modes (lorries, inland waterways, etc)
It would be great if you could let me know if you have seen studies,
articles etc. regarding the topics motioned above.
Thank you very much and best regards
Guenter Emberger
