Dear Colleagues,
Omar Corrado, a leading scholar of Latin American concert music in general
and Argentine music in particular, will be visiting the UK sometime
between late January and early March next year, when he will give a talk
at Sussex. To make it more worthwhile for him to come over and to
facilitate acquiring funding, I was wondering whether other UK music
departments would also be interested in a talk by him.
He can talk on four subjects:
1) Neoclassicism in Argentine Music of the 1930s
2) Current Developments in Argentine Music
3) Intertextual Practices in Contemporary Argentine Music
4) The Works of Gerardo Gandini
This is quite a unique opportunity: Omar tells me that he hasn't been to
the UK since before the Falklands War, and generally speaking the music of
Latin America is sadly underrepresented in British academe - judging from
my own, as yet limited experience, completely undeservedly.
If you are interested in a talk by Omar at your institution, reply to me
in the first instance. I will then collate responses and pass them on to
him.
Best wishes,
Bjoern Heile
