A happy New Year to all! Including Christians who have been precoccupied
with pagan ceremonies over the past few weeks. Now is the time to take
stock.
The Labour Party has just issued a leaflet entitled '300 gains from our
Labour Government.'. The leaflet does not mention one of the very few
pledges that the Labour Party made in their 1997 election manifesto for the
creation of an independent statistical service. Does the Government think
that the pledge has been achieved? If so why is it not included in the
300 gains?
Or is it being left to Blair's third term?
There is a meeting at the RSS on 12th Jan that will give opportunity to put
such questions to those close to the heart of statistical policy making.
See Notice of the meeting below.
