The BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science) is currently
recruiting to the post of Science Events Officer (National Science Week).
The role entials co-ordinating the National Science Week programme by
maintaining and developing effective relationships with both existing and
potential event organisers, and advising on good practice. You will also
devise and run events in liaison with BA regional staff and be responsible
for promoting National Science Week in liaison with the Press Officer. The
post reports to the Science Events Manager, and there is administrative
support. The National Science Week programme is web based and there is
extensive use of databases, so experience with both aspects is essential.
The successful applicant will also have experience of event co-ordination
and management, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both
written and verbal), a flexible and innovative approach and ideally be
degree educated with some knowledge of the science communication community.
Please note that as this position will involve frequent direct and
indirect contact with children and young adults, successful appointment
will be subject to the receipt of a satisfactory disclosure obtained
through the Criminal Records Bureau.
