Dear All,
I have recently seen a number of cases of irritation of the plantar digital
nerve in the 1st interspace especially in cyclists?.All cases seem to have a
fairly rigid plantarflexed 1st ray and combined with the tight cycling shoe
causes the irritation. I have treated quite successfully with orthoses and
corticosteroid injections. I presume this is a traumatic neuroma and seem to
recollect that it was first described by Joplin?
I am going to perform a literature search but thought i would throw it in for
discussion.
Any thoughts?
