Dear All,
in February I sent an e-mail about a student who had created an
essay bank site as part of an assignment (www.thesispress.com),
and published it on the web.
I had to write him a letter saying that the university was displeased
with him but I wasn't sure exactly which regulation he'd broken.
Anyway, after some assistance from the university admin, we
decided that he'd contravened 2 regulations:
1. the University owns the IPR of any work submitted for
assessment, so it is not his to do with as he likes.
2. University computing facilities cannot be used for any
commercial purposes.
We did also point out that his site encourages plagiarism which is
prohibited by the University regulations. He was asked to withdraw
the site but I see it's still there!
