Dear Ken:
Sorry, but I cant contact you through my box, so this are my coments:
This is my third atempt to contact you.
My server is cruel and don't accept capital letters in adresses.
First: My name is not in the roster. I've posted to the list through the
kind help of Carlos Duarte and Terry Love. If you could manage to include
me I would be very grateful. It was a thrilling event and I want to show it
to my grandchildren in years to come.
Second:
Format: Much more productive than a regular conference or a Video
conference. We had really well prepared and deep coments along with quick
replies and questions.
I think that nobody, exept a few, catched the full lenght of the
conference, wich is not bad. It was like attending to a firework show. You
are just missing some of the explosions but you catch the general light and
color ambiance. But, we can allways go to the archives and see the replays
in slow motion.
Major issues:
1. Link research to education: To lines oposed(?)
- Vertical: From the very core of designing and Design Teaching something
will emerge on the porsuit of results. That vertical movement will drag out
of its terrain sciences that design science will use.
- Ripples: From the very core of designing an Design Teaching there are
going out ripples in waters of science that will convey sciences that also
are sending ripples. At the intersections something will emerge.
2. Sketching and Drawing: Although it was not one of the major issues it is
important for me and for the tradition of teaching Design in Portugal. I
still think that the more powerfull tool to understand the trivial world is
drawing. Regretably is not deeply studied.
Underlying this thread I've sensed the opposition between Art based Schools
and Engineering based Schools and (sorry) people that are likely to be
drawing addicted an people that are "drawophobics".
3. Food Models - Very tasty.
Best, and hoping that this will arrive to its destiny
