Research Associate / Fellow in Health Economics

A primary focus of the Health Economics and Decision Science
section at ScHARR is on the use of modelling to improve
decision making in the health sector. A Research Fellow /
Associate in Health Economics Modelling is required to support
the work of the ScHARR Technology Assessment Group
(ScHARR-TAG) in providing assessments to support the
National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) in preparing its
guidance to the NHS. The successful applicant will also have the
opportunity to develop their own programme of research and
contribute to methodological developments in healthcare
modelling.
We are looking to attract individuals from a wide range of
previous career routes including:
-Operational research in the public, private or academic
sectors,
-Health economics including modelling in an academic or
commercial environment.
The post is suitable for applicants with a good degree in a
numerate subject e.g. operational research, mathematics,
economics, management science, statistics. Postgraduate
qualification in either operational research or health economics is
of value.
The appointment is initially funded until March 2006,
negotiations on the details of a further 5 year contract extension
are underway with the primary funding body.
